How do I enroll?

Enrolling is easy. Simply complete the online enrollment form and provide a valid prescription for NEXIUM.

Prescriptions can also be sent via phone (1-800-4-NEXIUM), FAX (877-283-9172), or ePrescribing from a physician's office. In accordance with the Board of Pharmacy, only your physician’s office may FAX or phone in a prescription. Eagle Pharmacy will fill medications once received unless noted on the prescription to hold/profile by the patient or prescriber.

Who operates NEXIUM Direct?

NEXIUM Direct is operated by AstraZeneca Direct, a program that delivers AstraZeneca brand name medications directly to patients. AstraZeneca is the maker of NEXIUM. Once you enroll to get NEXIUM through NEXIUM Direct, the communications you receive will come from AstraZeneca Direct. Prescriptions are processed and handled by AstraZeneca Direct’s pharmacy administrator, Eagle Pharmacy. Eagle Pharmacy is staffed by registered pharmacists and certified pharmacy technicians.

Who is eligible for NEXIUM Direct?

NEXIUM Direct is not available for prescriptions purchased under Medicaid or other similar state or federal government programs (i.e. Tricare, Dept. of Defense, Dept. of Veterans Affairs). Patients with a valid prescription for NEXIUM are eligible for the NEXIUM Direct program, including patients with commercial or Medicare Part D insurance coverage and patients without insurance. There is no qualification process, nor is a savings card or coupon needed. AstraZeneca reserves the right to change or discontinue this offer at any time without notice.

Does the NEXIUM Direct Program accept commercial insurance?

Yes, patients whose insurance co-pay is $75 or less for a 30-day supply will pay $25. Patients with a co-pay over $75 will receive a $50 discount off their co-pay. Standard shipping is free.

Does the NEXIUM Direct Program accept Medicare Part D, Medicaid, or other federal programs?

NEXIUM Direct is not available for prescriptions purchased under Medicaid or other similar state or federal government programs (i.e. Tricare, Dept. of Defense, Dept. of Veterans Affairs). Patients with Medicare Part D coverage are able to participate in the program and receive patient support services, but are not eligible to receive the NEXIUM savings card offer and will pay the co-pay according to their plan.

I am uninsured. Can I still enroll?

Insurance is not required to participate in NEXIUM Direct. If you have no insurance, you will receive a $50 contribution to the total cash price for NEXIUM. Please call 1-800-4-NEXIUM for more information.

What if my insurance doesn’t cover NEXIUM?

If your insurance does not cover NEXIUM, you can receive a $50 contribution to the total cash price for NEXIUM. Some insurance plans may require prior authorization or other stipulations associated with NEXIUM. If so, the NEXIUM Direct support team will contact your doctor to address the situation and help to ensure you get NEXIUM. Please call 1-800-4-NEXIUM for more information.

How will I receive NEXIUM?

Your order for NEXIUM will be processed and handled by AstraZeneca Direct’s pharmacy administrator, Eagle Pharmacy. Eagle Pharmacy is staffed by registered pharmacists and certified pharmacy technicians. Medication will be shipped directly to your home as soon as order processing is complete. This is typically no longer than 7-10 business days. There is no cost for shipping. However, taxes may apply.

How long will it take to receive my medication?

With the initial order, you should receive your NEXIUM prescription 7-10 days after enrolling in the NEXIUM Direct Program as long as no order issues exist. For a refill, your order should ship within 1-2 business days after the order has been processed.

What quantity can I order?

We will dispense the quantity as specifically written by your prescriber (the quantity must be a multiple of 30). If you are paying with insurance, your insurance must provide coverage for that supply.

How do I refill my medication?

To order a prescription refill you can call 1-800-4-NEXIUM to speak to a Customer Service Representative. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Or, you can elect for automatic refills during enrollment or at a later date.

How does automatic refill work?

When you elect for automatic refills, your medication will be automatically shipped to your home each month. Your credit card on file will be charged. You may cancel this service at any time if you no longer wish to automatically receive your NEXIUM prescription each month. To opt for automatic refill, do so during enrollment or call 1-800-4-NEXIUM to speak to a Customer Service Representative.

Can I cancel my order?

Once your order has been processed, you may not cancel your order.

Can I return my order?

Medication may not be returned for a refund.

How much does shipping cost?

Standard shipping is free of charge.

Is expedited shipping available?

For an additional fee, we can expedite your shipment.

What forms of payment are accepted?

The NEXIUM Direct method of payment is credit card. The program accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. Personal checks and money orders are not accepted.

Are taxes applicable?

Taxes are not applicable for payments using insurance coverage. If you pay out of pocket, taxes are only applicable in some states. Please note that these locations are subject to change based on state and local laws. Where applicable, taxes are calculated based on your total product cost and your local tax rate.

How do you protect patient health information?

Our pharmacy administrator complies with patient privacy regulations and requirements set by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). They provide training and strict monitoring in-service to safeguard our patients’ confidential information. They adhere to the HIPAA standards in all aspects of their business.

Important Safety Information About NEXIUM

  • Symptom relief does not rule out the presence of other serious stomach conditions
  • NEXIUM may increase your risk of getting severe diarrhea. Call your doctor right away if you have watery stool, stomach pain and fever that does not go away
  • Talk to your doctor about your risk for:
    • bone fractures if you take multiple daily doses of NEXIUM for a long period of time
    • low magnesium levels if you take NEXIUM for a long period of time
  • Tell your doctor about all of the medicines you take, prescription and non-prescription drugs, including clopidogrel, vitamins and herbal supplements. NEXIUM may affect how other medicines work and other medicines may affect how NEXIUM works
  • Side effects with NEXIUM include headache, diarrhea, and abdominal pain

Approved Uses for NEXIUM

NEXIUM is prescribed to treat the symptoms of acid reflux disease, which typically include persistent heartburn on 2 or more days per week, despite treatment and change of diet.

For many people, NEXIUM is also prescribed to heal damage to the esophagus called erosive esophagitis. This damage may be caused over time from stomach acid wearing away the lining of the esophagus. Only a doctor can diagnose this condition. With NEXIUM, most erosions heal in 4 to 8 weeks. Your results with NEXIUM may vary.
